Government Sets Up 22 Cross-Disability Early Intervention Centres Across India
The Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has established 22 Cross-Disability Early Intervention Centres across the country. These centres aim to identify disabilities in children aged 0 to 6 years at an early stage and provide timely medical support and guidance.

These centres will offer therapeutic services such as speech therapy, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy. Additionally, parents and caregivers will receive professional counselling to help prepare children for school by supporting their physical, emotional, and communication development.
This initiative is being seen as a significant step toward inclusive education and holistic development of children with disabilities. Early identification and intervention will enable these children to become self-reliant and actively participate in society with equal opportunities.
