To promote higher education and global exposure among differently-abled students, the Government of India has launched a special scheme called the National Overseas Scholarship (NOS). This initiative offers financial assistance to eligible candidates who wish to pursue Master’s or Ph.D. programs abroad in recognized institutions.

About the Scheme
The National Overseas Scholarship for students with disabilities aims to empower them through quality international education. It is designed under the provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and covers various academic disciplines.
Who Can Apply?
Eligibility criteria for differently-abled candidates include:
Academic Qualification: Minimum 55% marks in Bachelor's degree (for Master's courses) or 55% in Master's (for Ph.D. programs).
Age Limit: Not more than 35 years of age as of April 1st in the year of application.
Family Income: The total annual family income from all sources should not exceed ₹8 lakh.
Disability Certificate: Applicants must be recognized under the list defined by the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.
What Does the Scholarship Cover?
Full tuition fees, visa fees, health insurance, and travel expenses.
Annual maintenance allowance of USD 15,400 (approx. ₹12.8 lakh) for both Master's and Ph.D. students.
One-time grant of USD 1,500 (approx. ₹1.2 lakh) before departure.
